Faculty of Business Administration

     

Peter Kotimanusvanij (aka Peter Kay CPA) holds a Bachelor of Accounting from San Francisco State University in California, USA. He earned his MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. Working for Coopers & Lybrand as a Certified Public Accountant, he furthered his studies and earned a master’s degree in US Taxation. He spent nearly 30 years in the United States working in the areas of Accounting, Finance, and Taxation. He has experience in various industries such as manufacturing, farming, hotel operation, real estate, insurance, public utilities, as well as not-for-profit organizations. In Thailand, Mr. Kay worked as an executive director of a corporation listed in the stock exchange of Thailand. He was in charge of accounting, finance, MIS and taxation for the company. His responsibilities ranged from setting up a new accounting system to facilitate consolidation under the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) of Thailand as well as the international accounting standards. He was also a substantial contributor for the installation of SAP, the on-line computer system for the parent and subsidiaries. He was also responsible for tax compliance as well as tax planning for the company. Upon his retirement, he joined Asian University and currently lectures on Accounting, Finance, and Taxation.
 

Dr. Salam Amir Hoshang received his Master of Computer Science in Medicine from the University of Heidelberg, Germany and his Ph.D. in Economics and Computer Science from the University of Stettin, Poland. He has over 20 years of international business and IT consulting including 10 years of university lecturing experience in Germany and he was Head of the Computer Science Department at the Academy for International Management. Dr. Hoshang worked as an international IT consultant at T-Systems in Darmstadt, Germany, and was involved in international consulting and development projects with major companies in Europe. Dr. Salam joined Asian University Faculty in 2005, and is currently Associate Dean of the Business Faculty and Head of the MIS Department. He teaches MIS, IT and Technology courses for both MBA and BBA levels and is a member of several committees including the Independent Studies and Thesis Projects Committee (MBA), the MBA Final Oral Comprehensive Examination Committee, External Examiner Committee (BBA), the Business Faculty Academic Board Committee, and the Computer Center Committee. He also acts as Independent Studies and MBA Thesis Projects Advisor. His research interests include RFID Technologies and Applied Computer Science Education Models. His objective is “To utilize his oriental background, German education and discipline to transform the students into successful and outstanding leaders of the future.”
 

Jumpon Kluaymai-ngarmreceived a BBA (First-class Honors), majoring in Business Economics from Asian University. Jumpon was awarded the Erasmus Mundus scholarship by the European Commission and earned an MA Economics of International Trade and European Integration (with Distinction) organized by a consortium of seven European universities. He also holds a Post-graduate Certificate in Economics for Business Analysis from Staffordshire University, UK. Jumpon started working as an analyst in an investment consultant firm in 2005. He analyzed investment opportunities, particularly real estate, and studied the feasibility of other lines of business. In January 2007, Jumpon joined Asian University as a Special Tutor, whose main duties involved co-teaching undergraduate courses and delivering supplementary tutorial sessions. He was also appointed Assistant Director of the International Summer University. Currently, he is an Instructor in the Faculty of Business. His interests include Mathematical Economics, Open-economy Macroeconomics, Monetary Policy, Exchange Rate Economics, Capital Market Integration and Business Finance.

David Tan received his Bachelor of Law (Honors) (LL.B. Hons) from the School of Law, University of Buckingham, England and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Central Queensland University, Australia. Prior to joining Asian University in 2006, Mr. Tan had practiced as a legal consultant with 2 Bangkok international law firms owned by Thai and American lawyers. Mr. Tan has advised many multinational companies and SMEs based in Thailand, both Thai and foreign owned, on legal issues regarding corporations, commercial contracts, labor and employment, real estate purchases, leases and developments and corporate tax planning. These corporate clients that Mr. Tan has worked for, range mainly from the service, industrial, entertainment, foods, to the technology sectors of Thailand. Mr. Tan has also taught business law on a part-time basis prior to giving up his legal practice in Bangkok and commencing his full-time lecturer position at Asian University. He is also a guest lecturer at Chulalongkorn University. Mr. Tan’s areas of interest are: comparative business law, labor relations, corporate governance, and computer and e-commerce laws.
 

Kelley D. Ritchey holds a BA in Politics from Whitman College, an MBA from the University of California at Los Angeles, and an MA in International Economics and Finance from Chulalongkorn University. He holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designations. Prior to joining Asian University, he was a faculty member at the New York Institute of Finance. In addition to his academic credentials, Mr. Ritchey was the Senior Portfolio Manager of Weston Capital Management, where he was involved with hedge fund portfolio construction, manager selection, and attribution analysis. Previously, he was the Vice President and Head of Market Research at the Alternative Investment Strategies Group at Citibank and the Director of Alternative Investment Research and Education at the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). In the latter role, he educated institutional investors and high net worth investors regarding the benefits of alternative investment through a targeted ‘research driven’ marketing program. In his previous role at NYMEX, he developed new option contracts and maintained existing contracts in the energy and metal complexes. Prior to that, Mr. Ritchey was involved in portfolio management, equity option trading and option trading for several firms. He traded equity options and derivatives as a member of the American Stock Exchange and as a managing director, equity trading of Imperial Savings.


Varapa Rakrachakarn earned a BS in Computer Sciences from Thammasat University, Thailand and an MBA in Management Information System from California State University, Long Beach, USA. Prior to joining Asian University in November 2008, Ms. Rakrachakarn was a full-time lecturer at the Faculty of Business Administration, Huachiew Chalermprakiet University, Thailand from 2003 to 2008, and a full-time lecturer at the Faculty of Business Administration, Eastern Asia University, Thailand from 2002 to 2003. Ms. Rakrachakarn had a number of years of business experience with the positions of Database Specialist, at Wherehouse Entertainment Inc., California, USA from 2000 to 2001; Computer Lab Consultant, Academic Computing Services of California State University, Long Beach, California, USA, from 1998 to 2000; and Computer Programmer, American Standard Co., Ltd., Thailand from 1996 to 1997. Besides experience in the computer field, Ms. Rakrachakarn also has a varied experience in Marketing with the position of Project Manager and Account Executive for Mini Agency, Thailand.

 

Dr. Grubenmann earned his Ph.D. in Development Economics from AIT, Thailand, and a Licentiate in Economics (Master of Macro-Economics with particular emphasis given to Monetary Theory and Policy, Development Economics) and Licentiate in Business Administration (Master of Management and Organization) from the University of Berne, Switzerland, as well as a Diploma in Marketing Management from Queens University, Canada. He has over 20 years of business experience including Managing Director posts in multinational European and Thai companies. His special interest and expertise is in Economic Analyses and System Dynamic Modeling of public and private policy decisions. He has 14 years of teaching experience at the State University of Applied Sciences, School of Business and Public Administration in Zurich, Switzerland where he taught Macroeconomics and also acted as Head of the Economics Department. After this, he joined Asian University where he teaches and researches in the field of economics and System Dynamics both on the Master as well as the Bachelor levels. He also acts as Chair of the Economics Program.
 

Dr. Sutthiporn Chinnapha received a BS as well as an MBA in Management from Wilmington College, USA, and his Ph.D. in Management from Adamson University. He worked as the Director of the English Programme at St. John University for 12 years. Prior to joining Asian University, Dr. Sutthiporn taught courses in small business management, leadership, business policy, business ethics, and run seminars in management and strategic management to undergraduate and graduate students. His research and teaching interests center on how leading companies manage their people for competitive advantage. Academic work focuses on the development and deployment of intellectual capital as a foundation of an organization’s core competencies. His doctoral research was published in the Journal of Managerial Issues in 2003.
 

Pisak Sanguanmanee received a Bachelor of Economics and Chemistry from Ramkhamhaeng University, Thailand and a Master of Economics from Middle Tennessee State University, USA. Prior to joining Asian University in November 2008, Mr. Sanguanmanee was a full-time lecturer in Economics at St. John University from 2007 to 2008, and Head of Marketing Department at Ratanapundit Science and Technology University from 2004 to2007. He has been a guest-lecturer in the English Program at St. John University from 1990 to 2007 and a guest-lecturer at Kasembundit University in English Program from 1994 to 1998. Mr. Sanguanmanee has over 20 years of business experience with the positions of Asst. Managing Director, World Trade and Industrial Enterprise Ltd. (2001-2004); Senior Sales Manager, TelecomAsian Corporation Pcl. (1998-2001); Deputy Managing Director, Chico Thai Plantation Pcl. (1994-1998); Sales Manager, Viny Thai Pcl. (1992-1994); Asst. Marketing Manager, Thai Plastic and Chemicals Pcl. (1988-1992); Credit Officer, Bank of Ayudhya Pcl. (1986-1988); and Sales Representative, Sanyo Electric Center (1976-1982).
