Dr. Apichat Tungthangthum [DEAN OF FACULTY] received a BEng degree in Electrical Engineering from KMIT, an MEng degree in Information and Computer Sciences from Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan, and a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University, USA. He has over a decade of experience in industry and universities in Japan, USA, and Thailand. Dr. Apichat is a founding member of staff at Asian University when it

opened in 1998. He has held the position as Head of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, and currently he is the Dean of Engineering and Technology. Prior to joining Asian University, he was Head of the Electrical Engineering

Department at Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology, Thammasat University. His research interests include digital signal processing, speech processing, & communications.


Dr. Colin G. Black holds a PhD Degree in Engineering from the University of Glasgow, UK. He is also a Chartered Mathematician and a Member of the UK Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. Dr. Black has had over ten years’ experience working in universities in the UK, Singapore and Thailand. In addition, he has had considerable experience working as an applied mathematician and software engineer for a number of research institutes and private companies in the UK. His research interests include simulation, quantitative risk analysis, optimisation, as well as the general application of mathematics to engineering problems.
 

Dr. Pongchan Chandayot’s educational background is as follows: BS (Chemistry), Hon., (Kasetsart University), MS (Inorganic Chemistry) (University of South California), EdD (Science Education) (Illinois State University) and the Diploma of Accredited Gemmologist (Asian Institute of Gemmological Science). She has been teaching chemistry at undergraduate levels for more than twenty years. Her research interests include the study of value added products from seaweed and shrimp shell waste in Thailand, the colour grading of gemstones and the development of science and technology literacy materials for UNESCO 2000+projects.
 

Dr. Yuri E. Lozotsev earned his MSc degree (1975) in Aircraft Engineering, Hon, from Voronezh State Technical University and PhD (1983) from Kazan State Technical University (Russia), concentrated on aircraft manufacturing technique (notably shot-peen forming and chemical dimensional etching of flexible plates and shells). He subsequently completed the course of studies (2004) at Grand Doctor School of Russian State Open Technical University of Railway Transportation (RSOTURT) contributing to the betterment of teaching methodology for engineering disciplines by means of diverse pedagogical approaches (including implementation of information and communication technologies), particularly as applied to adult continuing (lifelong and distance) education. He worked for ten years as Engineer, Senior Engineer, Research Scientist and Senior Research Scientist at the Aviation Faculty of Voronezh State Technical University collaborating on research projects for the aircraft industry and later for more than 22 years as Associate Professor at the Department of Strength of Materials and Structural Mechanics combining this work with duties of Head of the Commission for the Methodology of Teaching and Learning at Voronezh Branch of RSOTURT (1992-2006). His research interests have been mainly in the field of surface plastic deformations of flexible metal components along with present-day theoretical and practical aspects of open and distance learning. He is the author and co-author of more than 30 publications and one Certificate of Authorship (Patent of USSR). Dr. Lozotsev is a member of European Distance and E-Learning Network / Network of Academics and Professionals (EDEN).
 

 

Dr. Danai Torrungrueng received his BEng degree in electrical engineering from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, in 1993. He also obtained his MS and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from The Ohio State University in 1996 and 2000, respectively. Prior to joining Asian U, he worked as a university researcher and then as a senior engineer in the USA. His research interests are in the areas of computational electromagnetics, rough surface scattering, propagation modelling, and electromagnetic wave theory. He is currently a member of the IEEE, the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society and the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society.
 

Dr.Suthasinee Lamultre received Bachelor degree and Master degree in Telecommunication Engineering, and her Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), Thailand , in 2000, 2003, and 2009 respectively. She received the best paper award from the International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT 2003), and the best student presentation from 2005 Electrical Engineering/ Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications, and Information Technology (ECTI) International Conference. She is currently pursuing the Doctor degree at the same institute. Her research interests are antennas, electromagnetics and microwave engineering. She is a member of IEEE and ECTI association.
 

Dr.Alan G. Fox obtained a BSc (hons) degree in Physics at the University of Aston in Birmingham, UK and a PhD in Physical Metallurgy and the Science of Materials at the University of Birmingham, UK. He has over thirty years experience as an industrial scientist and as lecturer, senior lecturer and Professor at Wolverhampton University, UK, the University of California, Berkeley, USA, the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), California USA and Southampton University, UK. In addition he has worked at La Laboratoire D’Optique Electronique du CNRS, Toulouse, France and the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia as a visiting scientist/professor during sabbatical leave. While at NPS, Professor Fox was the Director of the Centre for Materials Science and Engineering. At Asian University he is Professor of Materials Science in the Mechanical Engineering Department. He is also a Chartered Engineer (Europe) and a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, UK. Alan Fox’s research interests involve the use of scanning/transmission electron microscopy to examine structure/property relationships in advanced materials and he has published over 90 papers on this topic.
 

Dr. Rajesh Kempegowda obtained his Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree in Energy Technology from the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi in May 2006.Prior to his M.Phil degree, he worked in various Renewable energy research projects in IIT-Delhi, India. He also worked as a Project Engineer in Energy Services Company (ESCO) called INTESCO Asian Limited Bangalore, India. His research interests include energy management in industries and building, sustainable energy development, and application of energy economics to study the feasibility of process
 

 

Dr. Vladimir I.Tselev earned his MSc, Hon, degree from the Moscow Peoples Friendship University (Russia). He subsequently completed a PhD programme in Functional Analysis and graduated as a Researcher. He worked for three years as Senior Mathematician and Researcher in its Computer Centre and later for more than 15 years, as a permanent faculty of the Department of Differential Equations and Functional Analysis. His research interests have been mainly focused on Ill-posed Inverse Problems in geophysics. He is the co-author of the patented GRAD method of interpretation of anomalous geo-potential fields and the author of several applied software packages adopted for industrial use in the late eighties. He spent three years in Cuba as a Visiting Professor and Consultant, specialising in new educational technologies.

 

Dr. James Moran received his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2001. Before that, he received his bachelor’s degree from the University College of Dublin in Ireland. He has 10 years applied work experience in research and development having worked in product development for Bell Laboratories and as a technical consultant for Arthur D. Little. In 2003 he was one of the original members of Tribotek - a technology startup from MIT. He has published 12 technical papers and been awarded 8 patents in the US. He was a teaching assistant for several graduate level courses at MIT. His research interests include renewable energies, low friction contact systems and two phase flows.
 

Dr. Bernhard Riedl is the Head of ISE Department, in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, at Asian University. His research focuses mainly on security and privacy in information systems and agile project management. After founding his own company “Destination Design” (IT-Services) at the age of 19, Dr. Bernhard decided to expand his knowledge and began his higher studies aged 23 whilst still running his company in parallel. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Computer Science. Afterwards, he finished a Master’s degree in Economics and Computer Science and a Master’s in Software Engineering and Internet Computing (Computer Sciences) at the Technical University of Vienna. Dr. Bernhard also completed a Master’s in Informatics Management at the University of Vienna. All three Masters’s degrees were passed with honors. In 2008, Dr. Bernhard completed his Ph.D. studies in Technical Sciences (with honors) where he focused on the secure processing of sensitive medical data in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. For the novel concepts he developed for his Ph.D. work, Dr. Bernhard has been granted a patent. Dr. Bernhard has taught several university courses in the fields of Quality Assurance, Security and Privacy, Software Project Management and also participated in research at the Institute of Software Technology and Interactive Systems at the Technical University of Vienna. From 2006 to 2007, he worked as a project manager and researcher for Secure Business Austria, which is the first Austrian Competence Centre for organizational and technical aspects of IT-Security. Furthermore, he initiated and participated in the development of a couple of open-source projects.
