FACULTY STAFF
Dr. Michael E. Jones [DEAN OF FACULTY] earned his PhD from Indiana University. His PhD major was Education Policy – International Comparative Education with a minor in Intercultural Communications. In 2006-7, he was awarded a prestigious one-year Fulbright-Hays scholarship to study home-schooling & alternative education as a social movement in Thailand. Part of this research is among Michael’s 22 publications and appears in a Routeledge textbook: Power, Voice, and the Public Good: Schooling and Education in Global Societies. Michael also has a Master’s of Science in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana.
Mr. Martin Locker [ASSOCIATE DEAN, PROGRAMME LEADER IN MULTIMEDIA] graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Computer Related Design [now Design Interactions]. He went on to work as programme leader at the RCA before moving to Thailand where he worked for 5 years in the field of EFL as a branch director for AUA Language Centre. In the UK, Martin had also taught for several years at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art & Design, as well as the University of Reading where he received his first class BA in Typography and Graphic Communication. In addition to having almost 20 years of experience in education, Martin has worked many years consulting for international companies in the field of user interface design.
Mr. Sasipong Setamanit received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts and Advertising at Bangkok University, Thailand in 1998. He then moved to the US where he did his BFA in Multimedia Design at University of Oregon in 2002, and his MFA in Computer Arts: New Media at Academy of Art University, California in 2005. Prior to joining Asian University, he worked as an interaction designer and developer on E-learning courses for GeneEd Inc. as well as at the design agency Propane Studio in San Francisco.
Mr. Thomas Donaldson gained his MFA degree in painting from the University of Newcastle gaining a distinction and awarded a British Academy AHRB award using it to develop his practice. He has broad experience within the higher and further education sectors within the UK and Thailand, including lecturing at Newcastle University, Bradford College of Art & Design, Newcastle College and Gateshead College as well as attending & speaking at various cultural/design symposiums & seminars. Thomas advocates student centred learning and has a firm commitment to nurturing and developing students so they are equipped with the knowledge and skills, both technical & theoretical to achieve a successful career in a highly competive industry.
Dr. Pattamaporn Busapathumrong [HEAD OF HUMANITIES & SOCIAL SCIENCES] graduated from Thammasat University, Thailand with a BA (Hons) in Sociology and Anthropology, a Master’s degree in Anthropology from Stanford University, USA, and a Doctoral degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania, USA. Her education in the US was supported by the King Anandha Mahidol Scholarship. Her experience includes work in a Child Advocacy Unit and in the Defenders’ Association of Philadelphia, teaching at Thammasat University, and consultancies to the United Nations and UNICEF.
LOCATION
Asian University is a campus university situated at the top of the hill overlooking the picturesque coastal region of Pattaya and Jomtien. It is located on Highway 331 approx 100 km south of Bangkok and approx 20 km from the coast.

Every hour, there is a 1hr 15mins van service between Victory Monument in Bangkok and Asian University.
