"The Beach" is the story about adventure, sharks and a group of people in a beautiful secret island in Thailand. This movie was taken film in Maya Island, in the south of Thailand. Actually in the story, this secret beautiful island is an island in Ang Thong National Park, near Samui Island.
Richard (Leonardo Dicaprio) was an American backpacker who came to Thailand to travel and take a risk for his young life. He started the adventure by spending time in Bangkok and he met a maniac guy who always talked about a secret island in the South of Thailand. Before the maniac guy died, he left a map of this paradise island to Richard. He hardly made decision if he should go to find this place or not and he did. He asked 2 Frenches that he met in the motel to take the adventure with him while they did not even know if the island was really exist.
It was not easy to get to the perfect beautiful island because the island was in the national park that nobody was allowed to stay and there was no way to go there. The only way to get there was to swim across the sea with plenty of sharks. They decided to take very risk in order just to see the white beach and the clearest water, the most beautiful island that is like a paradise.
They were very surprised to meet a group of people in the island. It was not just a few people but it was a community of people from all over the world. Each one had their own duties to survive in the island. Many things happened in while they were here, love, sharks, sex and friendship. People here tried to protect this perfect island from travelers outside. No one ever thought about going back home, seemed they plan to stay here for whole life.
The location that was taken film is very really beautiful and just this place, the movie can attract people not to leave their seats. Besides the most famous actor like Leonardo Dicaprio that make the movie can be sold. I believe this movie is going to make money to Thailand by promoting Thailand through the movie. Even I am Thai, I still want to see this real place "The Beach" once. Fortunately that it is not so far from my hometown.
