"I think the Summer University is an excellent opportunity to develop yourself in many ways. The programme provides students an Asian experience they won't have when visiting Thaiand as a tourist. The lecturers and business related guest speakers are of high quality and have achieved a lot in they careers. The international students participating are highly diversified in educational background. This makes the event a perfect way to develop yourself professionally as well as socially. And also important, the programme is organized perfectly by dedicated people." Mark Bokma, The Netherlands, about the 6th Summer University 2011

Topics include managing cultural differences, negotiating across cultures, working with multi-cultural teams, and the challenges of managing global careers. Central to this course are analyses of international business case studies with an emphasis on the Asian-Western cultural differences and misunderstandings and the ways to overcome them.

This course emphasizes the strategic implications of marketing in Asian cultures. Topics include the global marketing environment and the competitive challenges and opportunities confronting today’s international marketers, the cultural environment of global marketing, the assessment of global market opportunities and the development of global marketing strategies. In addition we will make use of different case studies in the context of Asian markets, related to developing international marketing plans, import and export strategies, e-commerce and international marketing, and ethical issues in international marketing.
Module 3 Emerging Economies in Asia
This course explores the impact of globalization and modernization on Asian economies. It will provide an overview of a variety of growth and development theories with application to specific countries and regions in Asia. Case studies on the patterns of economic development in different Asian countries will be presented. A portion of the course will be devoted to examining issues impacting the region as a whole such as the 1997 Asian economic crisis. Emphasis will be put on the economic miracle and the rapid growth of the Asian tigers, both in the historical aspect and with a particular stress on the current state of affairs.

Extra-curricular activities:
So much more than other Summer Universities can offer ...
Asian University's Summer University offers a great deal more than just academic courses. During your three week stay, you will start the programme on our Campus. Then, we will show you around to let you experience the different cultures and ways things are done in Asia, finally having the last seminars in Bangkok.
We cannot fix the details yet since it's way too early to combine the best opportunties for you. The details and a preliminary schedule will be available in October 2012.
For an impression of our extra-curricular activities in previous Summer Universities, you may want to take a look at the photo gallery of the 5th International Summer University in 2010:
Optional tours
Optional tours (not included in participation fee) in Thailand can be arranged at the end of the programme. Suggestions include a visit to Koh Chang, an island paradise in the South. With clever planning you could visit any of the three wonders of the world, to neighboring Cambodia, to visit the ancient temples of Angkor, or to the Great Wall of China, or the Taj Mahal in India.
Also, when booking your flight you might consider a stopover on your return journey in Singapore (Singapore Airlines), Hong Kong (Cathay Pacific) or Kuala Lumpur (Malaysian Airlines) or even Dubai (Emirates). These can be surprisingly cheap if booked in advance.
